The weather wasn't on my side, so I decided to head into this gorge instead. I didn't have high expectations, which made the experience all the more surprising. I would rank this gorge among the more interesting ones.
I chose this place mainly because of the bad weather — it wasn't my original plan — but I didn't regret the visit. The trail is varied, and every few hundred meters you'll find a great spot for photos. Whether it's misty forests, interesting rock formations, beautiful waterfalls, or wooden footbridges and stairways above the flowing water, there's always something to catch your eye.
The destination of the hike is St. Georgenberg Monastery, the oldest preserved monastery in Tyrol. I explored the surroundings, took a few photos, and then headed back to the car. Parking in the town of Stans is paid in some areas; I parked for free near the Laurentiuskirche church.
