I first heard about Gosausee from Viktor Sheen's music video for the track Věčný. At the time, I thought I absolutely had to visit it myself. To date, I've already been there twice, and honestly, I don't feel the need to write a long article about this place. 

Almost everyone knows the Gosau Lakes, and since it's crowded in all kinds of weather, I'm not really drawn here. The area is also home to probably Austria's most famous via ferrata, Intersport Donnerkogel, with its well-known rope ladder. Even here, however, you have to expect crowds — if you don't take the first cable car up, the ferrata will have lines, and the climb won't be as enjoyable.

If you do visit, I recommend continuing all the way to Hinterer Gosausee, where you can enjoy a cold beer or a meal at the nearby Hohe Holzmeister Alm.

For beginners, the Laserer Alpin C ferrata is suitable — just be aware that hikers will be passing by along the path next to the lake below you. Alternatively, you can drive a few kilometers back to Staubecken Gosauschmied, where the Gosau ferrata park is located.
