Gamsblick - C

Approach: 1,5 hrs / Duration: 1,5 hrs
Rating: 4/5
When I first saw this ferrata, I felt an unexpected respect within me. Although the rock is beautiful, down from the mountain hut it seemed quite demanding.
The most demanding part was the actual ascent route, which takes about two hours at a leisurely pace from the parking lot to the start of the ferrata. The climb in direct sunlight was quite exhausting and the route itself was not very pleasant, especially in the last half hour.
The ferrata itself can be climbed in 45 minutes if you have a girlfriend waiting for you with a sunburn and you are in a hurry. Without hurrying, it will take about an hour and a quarter. I would describe the climbing as monotonous - the difficulty of the route seemed more or less constant throughout. It was a pure C, but at a really high altitude. Sometimes I had trouble not noticing the 300 m of emptiness under my feet. But the views? Perfect.
However, the most dangerous route turned out to be the descent, which I wouldn't really call a route. In some passages it was necessary to jump over sharp stones, and for a while there was a lot of rubble that was really slippery. I was glad when I arrived back down after about an hour and enjoyed the surrounding nature and my whining girlfriend.
