During this via ferrata, I found myself right on the edge of my mental comfort zone. I spent roughly half an hour sitting on a wooden viewing platform, taking in the sight of the majestic waterfall below me, before I finally gathered the courage to climb the route.

The trail to the waterfall takes about 45 minutes and includes several hundred metres of elevation gain. On hot summer days, you can cool off either at the waterfall itself or later at Lake Achensee, which has some of the clearest water I've ever seen in Austria.

The first section of climbing is relatively easy, but keep in mind that the rock is wet here and can be slippery at times. The difficulty ranges from B/C to C, so nothing too demanding.

The second section, however, is a completely different story. You're faced with roughly 30 metres of physically demanding climbing graded D. And as if that wasn't enough, the ferrata is extremely exposed — in the upper part you have nearly 100 metres of empty air beneath your feet, which, at least for me, is not exactly pleasant.

If you're looking to push your climbing skills to the next level, this ferrata is a great opportunity. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to beginners.
